Tucked within the dense fabric of Gunung Soputan, The Fields Apartment offers a quiet counterpoint — a modest structure shaped by wind, light, and respect for context. Surrounded by low-budget boarding houses, the project responds not with excess, but with care: forty well-considered units designed for professionals, expats, and long-stay residents seeking something more grounded. The architecture bends with the shape of the land, subtly opening itself toward a rare gift in the city a view of rice fields. The building is rotated to catch the prevailing breeze, reducing dependency on air conditioning. In place of glassy walls or generic forms, the facade is crafted with a running bond brickwork pattern: a rhythm that is both ornamental and performative, allowing ventilation, shadow, and privacy to shift through the day. Though compact in scale, The Fields is spacious in spirit a thoughtful insertion that proves dignity can be designed anywhere, even in the overlooked corners of the city.
